Nuba Inscription |
In 2016, Assaf
Avraham and Peretz Reuven presented evidence (based in large part on the Nuba
Inscription) that early Islamic tradition associated the Dome of the Rock on
the Temple Mount with the Biblical Temple, calling it the Bayt al-Maqdis,
the “House of Sanctuary,” or “Holy Temple.”
In other words, the Dome of the Rock was understood by the Moslems as
the reestablishment or reconstruction of the Jewish Temple. The work of Avraham and Reuven can be found in
its Hebrew original on Academia.edu. A video is available on
the Nuba Inscription that identifies the Dome of the Rock with the Jewish
Temple.
