July 17, 2017 -- Temple Mount Reopens after Friday's Violence

Last Friday, a group of three Arab-Israelis from Umm al-Fahm entered the city of Old Jerusalem through the Lion’s Gate.  They had made their way onto the Temple Mount.  Shots were exchanged between them and the Israeli police.  In the exchange of gun fire, two Druze Israeli police were killed along with the three Arab-Israelis.  The Temple Mount was shut down, but was later reopened to worshipers and visitors on Sunday after investigations and the installation of metal detectors.

Omar al-Kiswani, who is the director of the Al-Aksa Mosque, protested the added security measures.

  2. I later found a video that describes that the officials of Al-Aqsa Mosque have rejected the security measures.
