  1. In a not so unexpected response on August 1, 2017, the OIC took a hard stance against Israel for the security measures installed at the Temple Mount last month. OIC Secretary General Yousef Al-Othaimeen accused Israel of attempting to take control of the Al Aqsa complex. Others said Israel used common sense to remove metal detectors from the mount. However, a joint communication issued after the meeting said they, “strongly condemns Israel's recent provocative actions," and the also accused Israel of “excessive force against peaceful Palestinian worshippers" at the location.
I find it interesting that it appears nothing was announced from the OIC concerning the event that had the closest proximity to the instillation of security measures: the use of the Al Aqsa Mosque by three assassins to smuggle deadly weapons onto the Temple Mount. The three then subsequently killed two Druze-Israeli police officers. After the shooting the three fled back onto the Temple Mount causing the police to shoot them on the site.
