July 17, 2017 -- Responses from Jordan to Friday's Temple Mount Violence

It has been reported that the Jordanian Parliament Speaker Atef Tarawneh praised the three Israeli-Arabs who carried out the attack on the Temple Mount last Friday, which killed two Israeli police officers.  The three were later killed by Israeli police.  Tarawneh argued that the Israeli occupation of the holy sites in Jerusalem and the Al-Aqsa Mosque are the reasons for igniting the “fire of revenge.”  He called the three Israeli-Arabs martyrs.  This praise comes in sharp contrast with King Abdullah II of Jordan who earlier had condemned the attacks.

  1. UPDATE: On Monday, the Turkish Deputy Prime Minister Numan Kurtulmus argued that Israel's shutting down of the Temple Mount on Friday was, “a crime against humanity, a crime committed against the freedom of religion. From the point of view of human rights, it’s utterly unacceptable.”
