July 2, 2017 -- Development Surrounding the Temple Mount: Yehuda Glick and Israeli Lawmakers Allowed to Temple Mount (Trial Basis)

July 2, 2017
There has been a recent development surrounding the Temple Mount in Jerusalem.   Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has decided to lift a ban that prevents government lawmakers from visiting the Temple Mount.  The ban was put into effect back in October 2015 in order to allow tensions to subside between Israelis and Palestinians after outbreaks of violence.  The ban is to be lifted for five days later this month.  The Israeli government will watch to see if this causes violence between Jews and Moslems.

The ban was challenged when the Israeli lawmaker Yehuda Glick petitioned the Israeli Supreme Court to allow lawmakers to again have access to the Temple Mount.  Born in the United States, Glick is now a Likud Party member and Orthodox Rabbi.  He is also an activist for the Temple Mount.  In October 2014, he survived an assassination attempt on his life.
