On the second Friday of Ramadan, pro-Hamas
demonstrations took place on the Temple Mount/Haram al-Sharif. It is estimated that 200,000 Muslims had gathered
for prayer. Following prayers, thousands
gathered shouting, “With strength and blood we will redeem you, al Aqsa.”
On Tuesday May 29,
Israel was struck by mortar fire from Gaza.
It appears that the areas hit were civilian and residential. Israel responded by hitting several targets
with air strikes, locations that are said to belong to both Hamas and the
Islamic Jihad who are Gaza’s militant groups.
