Mar 2, 2018 -- Mahmoud Abbas' recent comments prompt responce from US, Israel, and the EU

On Monday, Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas said to the parliament of the Palestine Liberation Organization that it was the Jews’ social and economic function that caused them the hostilities in Europe.  Abbas also said there is no historical basis for the Jewish Homeland, rather the creation of Israel was a colonial establishment by the Europeans.

The comments were met with strong opposition.  American Ambassador David Friedman, Jason Greenblatt, President Donald Trump’s special envoy, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, and even the European Union responded with less than approval and were critical of the statements.
