(CNN): In one of the biggest
exchanges of fire between the two sides in years, militants in Gaza launched
some 45 rockets toward Israel early Wednesday morning, prompting retaliatory
airstrikes from Israeli fighter jets, according to the Israel Defense Forces (IDF).
